Working in partnership and supported by Hampshire County Council.
Basingstoke Synchronized Skating Club has been
busy raising money. After the annual sponsored skate,
the synchro club had raised a grand total of £1182.88,
which was split 50:50 with Woodlarks Camp Site Trust
and Woodlarks Workshop and Basingstoke Synchro Teams..
Woodlarks Camp Site Trust provides camping facilities
for children and adults with disabilities in partnership
with volunteer helpers. The site is set in 12 acres
just outside Farnham and is used by different groups
all through the summer. The Camp Site has no paid
staff and much of the winter maintenance is carried
out by volunteer working parties. The money received
from synchro will be used towards the cost of updating
the filtration/treatment system for the outdoor
swimming pool.
Woodlarks Workshop is adjacent to the camp site
and is home to approximately 20 adults with disabilities.
Each resident has their own bedroom with lounge
area and during the week they are involved in the
various activities in the workshop - woodwork, weaving
etc. Much of the money the Workshop receives from
donations during the year is used towards the cost
of running their minibuses which enable the residents
to access the communityduring the day and in the
evenings.
The cheques were presenter by the captain and vice
captain of Storm, on the open evening to:
Simon Farrant - Chairman of Woodlarks Workshop £295.72
Alexine Crawford - Chairman of Woodlarks Camp Site
Trust £295.72
