Working in partnership and supported by Hampshire County Council.
Basingstoke Synchronized Skating Teams have been
busy raising money for this year's annual sponsored
skate. This year the chosen charity, which the money
will be split 50:50, was CLIC Sargent, a children
cancer charity. The grand total raised was £1285.44
with £642.72 going to CLIC.
CLIC Sargent offers a practical hands-on care
for families and children with cancer. It is not
just clinical services but financial and emotional
support.
Each day, five families in the UK are told their
child has cancer or leukaemia. From that moment
on their lives will never be the same again. Most
children will survive, some will unfortunately
die, but the scars on the family will remain.
CLIC's role is to try and help these children
and their families cope and keep life as normal
as possible.
With the money raised from the sponsored skate
CLIC can look forward to a world where the impact
of childhood cancer is minimised by:
* Equal Access to the best possible treatment
and care
* The preservation of the highest possible quality
of life for each child and their family
* The formulation of effective strategies to
identify, prevent and cure those diseases
